Muscle Memory is an interactive project about memory, dance, collaboration and the pursuit of a creative life. Video, music and photography will intimately tell the stories of college friends who took enormous creative risks in their youth and then grew up. For the project they agreed to learn new dance steps and perform again despite the changes in their aging bodies and the complexities of their adult lives. The creative influence of the past remained intact and despite everyone’s diverse life choices they were able to come together and reignite their passion for dance. This short video is when everyone gathered at our former university UCSC to take part in “Dance Camp.”

LANDS END
Muscle Memory is a personal memoir about my previous life as a choreographer and dancer and the experience of creating and performing dances again in middle age. This is a documentary/dance hybrid about the power of memory and the intersection of what a mind remembers and what a body feels.

MUSCLE MEMORY - LOBBY
Muscle Memory is a poetic documentary about the power of memory and the intersection of what a mind remembers and what a body feels. It is a hybrid film about my former life as a dancer and a choreographer and how that world became integral to my identity as a filmmaker. It is also about how to move forward when the creative tools we relied on for so long are no longer available to us.
